From Hip-hop to Opera – Live lounge IV: the cafe style music event in LG ยป

by Simon Cooper

Just wanted to post you a brief edit of a few short clips from the latest live lounge event in Lancaster Gate. If there are any of the songs you would like to see more of, describe the act and I will post them up to the familyfireplace youtube channel.

It was an attractive development at the latest live lounge to have a cafe area, where people could buy cakes, and drinks. Some great non-alcoholic cocktails by Michael Franklin and Steven. My favourite was the one with mint, sutar solution, and some other things…not sure what they were….

Also, again a big thank you to Sarah Hanna and Reamonn Bateman for another well put together event. There were two v cool Maltese MCs and as usual a very friendly and happy crowd.

We might be seeing something of the live lounge sound machine at the annual gathering at Cleeve House in August.

Such amazing, talented, young people, looks like you had a great evening. Will there be a CD coming soon???

I will pass on the request to Reamonn Bateman and Sarah Hanna. They were planning to put a CD together, but they have been delayed by a few things that came up.

That was really great. I wish I had gone.

[...] Well, several years on, the cycle of life has come around again, and we have one of our FFWPU members pioneering a studio again in our HQs. It is the project of Reamonn Bateman. He took an old store cupboard and turned it into a music producer’s office, and is helping to bring music back to our HQs as a cultural force. I know a certain elder brother, David Rennie, has been promoting this opportunity to arise for a while. And out of reageorge studios a successful open mic night has developed in our HQs which has been a collaboration of Reamonn and Sarah Hanna. You may have seen my blog last week with a little video of clips from the most recent perfromances: “from hip hop to opera”: http://familyfireplace.org/blog/?p=1582 [...]
